Don't ever go to shockertriathlete.com.  There's nothing for you there.

How about "boneheadtriathlete" or "justforfuntriathlete" not to be confused with "cupofjoetriathlete.com"

tri-hard - 2005-11-02 8:35 AM When I started this tread I was thinking other people would post bonehead things they had done so I would know I was not he only one who did them.... Now I am wondering if I would need a helment for a ball gag? This is why I love BT, very inspiring.

OK.  Here's my bonehead move of '05.

Due to weather I was training inside on my resistence trainer and was going to do a brick.  My treadmill is right beside my bike.  So I'm hammeing out a good 50 minute spin (wearing SPD cleat/shoes).  I had the treadmill already running next to me with the speed set at 7 MPH.  When I hoped off my bike I jumped directly on the treadmill not thinking about changing shoes.  My legs immediately went into lock-up because I my shoes would not allow my legs to move as fast as the treadmill belt was moving.  I jumped off the side of the treadmill to save myself from doing a nose-plant.  My first foot hit the ground and slid out from underneath me. I ended up doing the splits and falling on my a$$.

I laid on the ground for a few seconds just wondering what the hell was I thinking.

Oh the classic "forgot to change shoes before jumping on the treadmill move"

Maybe we need an announcer like at an Ironman saying...

(insert name here) YOU ARE NOW A BONEHEAD!!!!!!!!

I was a volunteer at a duathlon and a guy took off out of the transition with his helmet on. I was like, I don't think you need that!! He went back and dropped it off. I shouldn't have said anything.

I think almost every triathlon or duathlon has at least one person who starts running out of T2 with their helmet on.  My first race, I couldn't get my helmet off.  Someone had to help me.  LOL

There's someone this site who posted a race report and said he left T1 with his wetsuit on.

Maybe not a boneheaded move, but awkward, and embarassing.

In a race this summer, I was changing into my running shoes and must have busted a gel packet still in my pocket on my race suit...needless to say I received a few chuckles on the run portion. Finally someone told me what was on my a$$.
