Pre-race routine:

Set transition up. Watched first wave start and then the first guys transitioning. put on the wetsuit and went!
Event warmup:

jogged before putting on the wetsuit. Swam a little once in the water
Swim
  • 28m 11s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

Need to be better sighting. It was also a little intimidating!
What would you do differently?:

Stay on course better. Put anti chafing cream on my neck better. I'm covered with hickies!!!
Transition 1
  • 02m 43s
Comments:

Wasted time drying myself off to get the jersey on and I didn't really need that jersey after all! Pretty good for my first time, but could get faster.
What would you do differently?:

Wear singlet of trisuit. Dont' bother with a jersey. Dont sit to take my wetsuit off.
Bike
  • 1h 23m 53s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.77 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty good for my first time, but there is definately room to improve on the bike.

What would you do differently?:

Use aerobars. They're being installed tomorrow!!

Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Helmet off while running. Shoes very smooth. I had a great spot for T2. BUT I forgot my HRM and hat.
What would you do differently?:

Take HRM from bike!!! Put on a hat or visor. USe sunscreen...
Run
  • 53m 37s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

It didn't feel this amazing, but it was fast for me for a 10k. Must be the sea level help!! Obviously this was my weakest leg, but it was not as slow as I thought. I would not have guess I could do 8.6 minute miles...
YEAH, and still room to improve.
What would you do differently?:

Wear a hat and sunscreen. No jersey.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked and pretty much cried when I finally saw my time and rank.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing but the 8 weeks of training. (not nearly enough for peak performance)

Event comments:

I did it!!! and shattered my goals and expectations at the same time. How will I compete with this much energy again??!!

Course: 8 laps, one hill each lap, which I killed up and down every time. I think ONE person passed me on that hill. Had trouble on one flat section with headwind. The road was AWFUL with lots of holes, bumps, through parking lots with glass and other stuff, but I think that may have been good for me and my mnt bike background.

Incredible job, Julie. 58 degree water, and you did not even mention that it was COLD..... I must be a wimp, anything under 70 degrees and half my race report is whining about how cold it was.Great work, especially if this was your first time out!!!Dennis
