Subject: Bike Repair Stand Recommendations
I am asking for a bike repair stand and HRM for Christmas/Birthday (Dec 21). I know what HRM that I am getting, but I am having trouble deciding what stand to get. I have looked at the following, but would open to other recommendations (preferably less than $125).

I plan on doing basic repairs, washing, etc, but I may get more daring and try harder repairs as my mechanical abilities and understanding of Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance and/or Barnetts increase.

Also, any coupon codes out there for performance?

Is it worth buying a stand and learning to tru my own wheels? It cost me about $10-$15 to get this done.

Get the Spin Doctor Team or a similar work stand.  Do NOT, however, even consider gettin the Essential or any other stand where you have to take off the front wheel; it is more trouble than it's worth.  I know because I bought one and I never use it.

The cupboard is empty as far as Performance coupons are concerned. Even my usual sources are asking me for codes.

If you like to tinker, and have the time, patience and mindset for it, by all means get a truing stand and learn how to true your wheels. My bike guru trues my wheels as part of an annual $30 tuneup, that's good enough for me.

Can't recommend a stand. I use my receiver hitch bike carrier.

How's the baby? Post some pics. Are you doing Frost Yer Fanny? When does it usually fill up?

Thanks for the help.

I plan on doing Frost Yer Fanny, but I don't think it fills up until a week before, if it fills up at all.

I don't know much about bike stands other than that they're expensive. However, look at this deal I found.

I got the Park PCS-9 for Christmas.

It is really nice and a great deal ($80 after shipping from Ebay). Excellent quality.

Park makes a few different ones that range from $100 to whatever you are willing to pay (shop quality metal ones).

I like their stuff, but have never bought a stand since I still have shop access whenever I need it. When I no longer have that resource, I'll be picking up a Park stand.
