Has anyone done that?  I'm assuming it's an ocean swim; is it really cold?

That's the weekend after my 40th birthday and I'm considering doing my first olympic there....

I've not done it, but I have friends who have.  The weather can be unpredictable, one year, it turned into a duathlon because the ocean was too choppy.  I think it was the year it rained and the streets looked like rivers.  But everyone I  know has had a great time.

I've done it several times. It's a lot of fun. Wetsuits are legal for the swim, but some people don't wear one - the water's not too bad. As Robin said, it is definitely an adventure no matter what! There's beer at the finish line and it's a good excuse to go to Mexico. I say do it!! Just go in planning to have a great time and not concentrated on finish time, and you will be glad you did.

Great event I did it in 2001 and had a great time. I used a shorty for the swim. Usually the Bike is really windy, mostly on the way back in.

I would suggest making arangemets for a place to stay well in advance as it get pretty filled up that weekend.

I did last year. The ocean was very calm, and the water was about perfect. 72 F or so? I am glad I wore my wetsuit. Apparently the year before that, they had a horrible storm, the ocean was crazy, and bike portion rode through sewage and whatnot... After that they moved the date back as to miss more of the stormy season. If the weather is like it was last year, I'd say it was a great race! The run's a doozy though.

I am doing it this year along with a friend from work. It will technically be my first tri, but I decided to do the sprint one in Scottsdale in March as a warm up.

Also, If you like to deep sea fish, I want to go out on a boat on Sunday! mmm Fish fry and Gu.

I guess everyone has heard Rocky Point is cancelled this year, right? My friends at racelab tried to revive it, but no luck.

They are trying to keep it low key. (shhhh!! you did not hear this) There was a misunderstanding with the police that lead to canceling the race.
