I plan to do some OWS this weekend at Nokomis. Haven't decided on the date and time yet. PM me if you are interested!

A few of us are getting into the water at Belle Taine in Nevis at Saturday 10:00 am.

I expect water temps to be around 65.

Oh, Nevis is a bit of a drive for me. Thanks for the invite.

I'm ready!

First time in my sleeveless tri-suit went well. Water was chilly at first (Bay Lake, up by Garrison) but wasn't bad at all.

Bring on the Oly.

Great to hear people are getting ready. This weekend's OWS up north to prepare for Buffalo was wonderful. Water temps were 71 on Belle Taine.

I think I am going to cross the street during my lunch break today for a lake swim.

I got in the lake yesterday. I think everyone at the beach thought I was a freak all decked out in my wetsuit. Oh well, I heard some of them say, "I wish I had one of those...".

It was fun, and good to get the practice in before next weekend. Now, the debate will start whether I should actually use the wetsuit. 1/4 mile swim vs. transition time removing the suit. I think I may wear the suit - I bought it, and it will probably make me swim fast enough to recoup any lost time in transition. We'll find out next weekend!

I hope to see/meet some of you there.

Wear the suit! If you are a marginal swimmer like most of us, the time you lose in transition will be made up actually swimming. I figure that I save about 40-50 seconds swimming a quarter mile with the suit. It doesn't take me that long to remove the suit.

I agree with B-One. The added buoyancy really helped.

Oh, guys, how are we going to meet up with each other at tribuff (if you are interested in a get together)? I think I have some of your cell #.. or some of you have my number.

Looks like we have the following BT'ers at tribuff (10 people strong!!):

leapdog
tmvolk
B-One
Denise2003
Acesfull
Autumn
Bromaui2
jpw
Kelpeng
Matchman
lincsguyus

According to the Race Nexus, here are the lists of BTers doing each race:

Sprint:
AcesFull, amwiens, bromaui2, Denise2003, jpw, kelpeng, kkokal, Matchman, mbmoran2, tmvolk00

Oly:
autumn, B-One, goodav, ImTriing, leapdog, MADFOXZZ75, windowjoe

That's a total of 17 - looks like a good turnout! Anyone have any good ideas about places/times to meet? How about the jungle gym next to the transition area? What time can we expect the Oly racers to be finished?

-Kevin

Should we meet pre-race while we are all showered, fresh, sweet smelling, bubbly, and cheerful or post race when we have no pride left?

We can meet by the restrooms in the transition area. Leapdog mentioned that Ian won't make it, but I will recognize Kelly. I'm 6' even with short, slightly greying, dark hair. I have a red sleeved DeSoto tri singlet, but will be wearing a t-shirt (probably my grey 5+ t-shirt from the series last year) and black shorts both pre and post race.

Someone set a time and I will try to make it.

I've actually been slightly dreading this race, trying to decide how to approach it. I think my fear is that I will go out of the blocks too fast and blow up early, or end with too much gas in the tank wishing I had given it more. I guess since my next race will be at the end of July, there is no reason that I shouldn't let it all hang out. As the date gets closer, however, I am really looking forward to racing.

Guys, here's the schedule. I think I will be there by 7-715am. What time are you guys going to be there? I don't know how long it will take me to set up and get body-marked. Let's meet at around 745-800? And then we head over to the prerace briefing, wherever that is? I will be wearing something screaming red, so that you can spot me easily.

Hey y'all!

Looking forward to meeting each of you this weekend.  I'll be wearing my "Dork Rocket" tri top which is bright orange and white.  Hopefully I'll have my BT Tats by then too.  See you Sunday!

Cheers!

Tom

PS - We should try to get Chris Legh and Natascha Badmann in a pic with the group.  I think we could get that one as a banner pic.

I'm pretty lousy with names, so I put together a little cheat sheet of the Buffalo racers:

autumn = Autumn
B-One = David
goodav = David
ImTriing = Mike
leapdog = Jeff
MADFOXZZ75 = Beth
windowjoe = Joe
AcesFull = Dan
amwiens = Aaron
bromaui2 = Kate
Denise2003 = Denise
jpw = Jon
kelpeng = Kelly
kkokal = Kevin
Matchman = Tom
mbmoran2 = Brian
tmvolk00 = Travis

Helpful? Probably not, but it gave me something to do over lunch.

WAAAAHHHH!!!!  I feel like the geek down the street that no one invited to the neighborhood birthday party...maybe I shouldn't do a marathon next year...takes away from my opportunities to party with BTers.

Have a great race this weekend everyone.  I'll meet a few of you at Grandma's and the Lifetime Fitness Tri...

Sal -

I'm with you!  I had a very good reason to not schedule Buffalo this year (like 150 miles on my bike a week later for the MS 150 and moving into our new lake place) but I'm feeling pretty sad right now!  Good luck everyone and have a safe, fun race - especially those who are racing for the first time.  It will change your life!

hey everyone. i SHOULD be there. i am pain free today after a nasty round with gastroenteritis. bill and i both had it this week; fiona last week. anyway, i'm feeling pretty darned good today, even after cleaning up around the house. i'm going to continue to take it easy today and tomorrow, pack for the race, and then do a short run on saturday to see how i feel. if it goes alright, i'm there. i will be aiming for a finish, not a PR, but i'll be happy to be there at all! i'll be in my celeste and black country cycles tri team trisuit and will be with bill (tall, red beard) and fiona (2 1/2, cute, red hair) and maybe ella (5, cute, red hair - she may still be in duluth on sunday though). hope to see you all there!!!

Best of luck to everyone. I missed registering for the race by about 2 hours on Sunday. Had to pull out of the Owatonna tri because of a really bad back and wanted to get one more run in on Sunday to see how it felt. By the time I got back from the run the race had closed. Bummer is I felt like I had my best run ever after a 10 day lay-off. Guess I just have to wait 2 more weeks for Minnetonka.

My first entry to this forum - just figuring this out.

The Buffalo Sprint won't be my 1st tri. That was... ahem... 18 years ago(Bud Light Triathlon - Crystal Lake IL); the summer before my freshman year in college.

I'm traveling from Chanhassen and plan to arrive around 7:15. My wife and munchkins (ages 3 & 5) will be at the playground too ~9am.

I will be wearing black shorts and red short sleve shirt. Prerace will have on a sleveless wetsuit.
