Hi everyone! I'm very new to the whole triathlon thing. I've secretly always wanted to do one and got motivated by a show on MTV called "Made" where an out of shape kid trained for a sprint in only 6 weeks. First, I didn't even know that sprints existed. Second, if that whiny kid could do it in 6 weeks, I knew I could do it for sure. Growing up I was really athletic but after college it all just slipped away and I ended up very overweight. Now I've lost a bunch of weight, I'm half way done, and have decided to do a sprint to help me keep my exercise routine exciting while I work on losing the rest of the weight. I'll be doing the Solana Beach Sprint in August. It's a mini. I already can swim and bike the distance but I'm struggling with the running. I've never been a runner and to top it off I'm still babying a torn meniscus from last year. I can't wait to pull it all together and succeed in August!! I'm so excited to have found this forum!

I saw that MTV episode and you are right - he was whiny! But he finished, and that is very inspiring!

Take care of the knee - I had a similar problem and unfortunately, had surgery, so I'm also still recovering this year - but it is getting better!

Keep us posted!

Congratulations on making such great changes in your life! I can SO relate to struggling with running :-(
This site is a great place to start - there is so much great advice.
So, take it steady and easy and watch that meniscus!
Here's to success in August and for the rest of your life!
