I'll be doing lots of long rides this summer for IM training- we'll have to ride together.  Also, hopefully there will be some metric centuries to do- that's an easy and fun way to knock out long rides.  Also, I like to bike with the LBS on Saturday, and just ride extra afterwards to get in more miles.  I can usually find someone in the group who's willing to ride extra with me.

I'll be at SC 1/2! This will be my first 1/2 and 5th event total! Should be a lot of fun!

I think I'm bailing on this one.  This race conflicts too much with IM training.  I have a long ride that weekend (6 hour ride) that I don't want to miss.

Wondering where everyone is staying for the SC 1/2.  How far from Columbia is Greenwood?

It is ~ 1:15 from downtown columbia... I drove it for the FOF in the morning and it wasn't too bad... you could stay in Newberry, SC which is ~ 20 minutes from the race site (~ same distance from race site as Greenwood)

If anyone has not registered for the SC1/2 and want to you need to do it NOW!!!! As of 8/30 there were 300 of 400 signed up, when I finally had the courage to sign up last night there were 16 slots left, this morning, only 14. Just thought I would give you a warning!

Any thoughts on the course from those who regularly ride/run in the area? I produced an elevation chart and say a handle of long climbs.

I'll be camping (really.....in a tent even) in campsite 1 site 16. Couple others from my area will be camping also. Should be there around noon on Sat. Stop by, say Hi and introduce yourself.

If you're camping in a $40 tent with a $4000 tribike chained to a tree......you might be a redneck.
