There is a local "Turkey Dash" at the Y. We are not doing it because of the cost. It is $30 each for my wife and I, $25 each for my kids to do the "Kids Dash". $110 is bit much for us to do a 5k and the kids to do a 1 mile. So wifey and I are getting up early and doing a 5 mile run, then we will run another 1 mile with the kids.

I signed up for the Greensboro Gobbler 5k.  I haven't run a 5k in about 15 years.  This is going to feel weird to only run 5k and not have to swim or bike in front of it.

I am registered for the 5 mile Turkey Trot in Cleveland, Oh on Thursday.  Here is the weather forecast:

"LAKE EFFECT SNOW SQUALLS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BY NOON ON
THANKSGIVING DAY...PARTICULARLY ACROSS LAKE AND THE NORTHERN
PORTIONS OF GEAUGA...ASHTABULA AND ERIE COUNTIES.  SNOWFALL
ACCUMULATIONS IN EXCESS OF 2 FEET ARE POSSIBLE BY FRIDAY MORNING
WHERE SQUALLS PERSIST."

The race is at 9:30 a.m.  IF the squalls develop (always a big "if", Thanksgiving Day should be interesting.  Note: I live in Ashtabula County.  YEEEEEEEE  HAWWWW!

Diane

no official Turkey Trot since I have practice at the same time the Philadelphia Turkey Trot is going on (and believe me those kids are going to EARN whatever it is they are going to pig out on tomorrow night) but I will go out for my own Turkey Trot once I get home, probably around a 5K to a 4 or 5 miler.

Followed up on where I'll be this weekend (DE beach areas). There is a Run For the Rose 5k on 11/26 in Rehoboth which I signed up for, and a Turkey Trot 5k on Sunday that I'm contemplating running.

Yes siree, an 8.1 and 5.3 miler that my club hosts. It's always a good turn out. I'll be doing the 5.3 miler. It's gonna be coooold. Then all I have to do is shower and show up at my mom's. It's the first time in 8 years that my husband and I are not cooking and hosting Thanksgiving.

I do, I do!  It's a long standing tradition in a neighboring town- Kirkwood/Webster Turkey Day run. Run takes place before rival high school football game. I haven't done it before, but great crowd and lots of families from what I hear.

My beef is this...there is a 3 mile and 6 mile route. The 3 mile starts at 8, the 6 mile 8:30. Route support ends for both races at 9:30, so anyone that runs slower than a 10/min mile can't run the 6 mile.  I wanted to do the 6 mile, but I haven't been running enough to get through that in 60 minutes...so, the 3 mile it is. Might have to earn my second piece of pie by taking my dog for a nice long walk afterwards.

Kudos to all of you battling nasty weather forecasts!  We will be chilly (30-35) but no precip!

Happy Trotting!

I've got a 5k.

The weather took a turn south though.

It's going to be 14F plus a 25mph wind tomorrow morning at 8am.

Maybe I can win by default if no one else shows up?
