EGAD! My first race is today....

Elite Veteran  748    northern Illinois |  Subject: EGAD! My first race is today....I have NO idea what possessed me to enter this race. Okay, I know, but now I'm thinking that I'm a bloody idiot. A local school had a fire a few months ago, and this race is a fundraiser to do some repairs. I am a running disaster case, but I figured that I needed to train anyway, and for $20 I can train with like-minded people and do some good while I'm at it. You guys, I've never even run 5k straight through without walking. I think I CAN do it, but I always talk myself out of it when I'm in the middle of it. This should be interesting. Andrea |

Can you imagine??? I've been doing this for 7 years and I still get a bout of nerves prior to every race. So go for it....and good luck!!! Evelyn |

Of course, race walkers were passing me, but we'll just ignore that little tidbit. Time = 27:50, so nothing to write home about -but by my standards, it's not bad. And now I know what my baseline is, right? And I have a cool new race T-shirt, and no one has to know that I was dead last in my age group. The T-shirt doesn't say THAT part! Andrea |
