Subject: coming out as a former lurker
I have been lurking on this site for awhile (month?) now. Actually I asked one question and got lots of good advice--but generally a lurker but no more. About me, I'm 55, overweight but otherwise quite healthy--non-smoker as of 5 years ago (for 35 years but no effects on my lungs, thank god). I backpacked around Mt. Rainier (90 miles in 15 days) 4 years ago but not a lot since. I do recreational rides and took a few swimming lessons last summer. Now I LOVE swimming! Oh, Yeah, I hate running. I played soccer for several years, 15 years ago and hated the running drills then like I do now.

I've been "training" (using the couch to sprint) for a month now. Today I had a personal best for me and I've been high all day! I swam 800 yds in 26 min. Not only that but I swam several 100 yd sets. Thank you for being here. This is a great motivator/helpful/celebratory/lean-on-me site.

Glad you're official now.  Enjoy the site.  Don't fight the addiction (to tri-ing)!
