Subject: Shoe Shelf Life??

Is there a shelf life for shoes??  I asked at a local running store (very knowledgeable) and they said no as long as they are not in the sun or extreme heat (like an attic). Has anyone heard / seen anything else ??

Exposure to the air will, over time, breakdown the shoe's midsole. The main culprit is ozone, an airborne pollutant. How long it takes to render a shoe useless is another question.  I don't know the answer to that one.
