Subject: Clinical LT testing...anyone?

I'm planning to make a trip to Fitness-Concepts (Ken Mierke's shop) in late Jan to get VO2 max/LT tested and have a bike fit done.  They offer discounted rates for groups that get tested together.  If we can get 5+ together it will only be $100 each (vs. $150 individually).  Is anyone in the area interested in coordinating a day late next month to get some testing done?  I'm happy to make the arrangements and work out the details.

Is the testing for biking or running? Does the $100 include the bike fit? I would definitely be interested.

Bike fit not included but I'm going to ask about package deals on fitting/testing too.  I believe the testing is for either biking or running...process should be the same.  Keep the questions coming and I'll get in touch with Ken and get some answers.

Joel,

I just did my testing with Ken a few weeks ago, and his wife (Melissa) is my coach.  It's money well spent.  Anyway...if you need additional bodies, you might try posting on the DCTri board.  I know of at least one other who would be interested in joining you.

Did you test on the bike, run, or both?  I suspect the fee only includes one or the other?

Great idea on the DC Tri Club posting.  I'll give that a shot if I can't drum up enough business here on BT.  If you know specifically of someone interested feel free to put them in contact with me.

I did both, but it was included in my coaching program.  There is no way you could test both in one day, so I suspect the fee is for only one.

I'll ask around and give anyone interested your info.  FYI- I work about 400yds from Ken's office, so if your up here on a weekday it might be worthwhile setting up a little BT happy hour.

Yeah...Fairfax.  I'm looking at late Jan to early Feb depending on what works best for everyone involved.  Not sure if they've open on the weekends but I'm kind of leaning towards a Friday.  I'll get in touch with Ken and start feeling out some preliminary details and dates.

Keep me posted. Fairfax is right next door (I think).  W/E is preferred, but Fri pm would probably work. Thanks

Okay, I heard back from Ken last night and here's the deal.

He will offer us a $50 discount on both LT testing and bike fitting which makes them $100 each per person as opposed to $150 each.  We can't do both bike and run LT testing on the same day but consecutive days would work so a Fri/Sat is possible for those interested in both.  Ken also has offered to run (pun intended an Evolution running clinic and/or underwater video analysis if there is interest.  A local hotel discount is also possible.

I'm going to suggest 3 possible dates...Jan 20/21, 27/28, and Feb3/4.  I've asked Ken if any of these wouldn't work for him.

So, assuming we could get bike fitting, run and bike LT testing for $100 each per person ($300 total per person but possibly less for a package of all 3), who would be interested in what and are there any of the proposed dates that definitely don't work for you?

I would be interested but won't be able to confirm a date until I start my new job after the holidays. I would want to do the bike LT and fitting.

Right now I'm lening towards Jan 20/21 so try to angle for those dates.  If you're only doing one LT test then you can do it in a single day.  Not sure we'll have enough interest to schedule two days anyway.

Okay folks...here's the deal. Ken said he'll give us the whole package (bike fit, run and bike VO2 max testing) for $250 or $100 each for any two...it would normally cost $150 each for those 3 services. We'd have to do the two VO2 max tests on consecutive days (Fri/Sat). The only set of dates that works for coach Ken is Jan 27/28. This is an awesome opportunity and a one time only deal just for us. He has also offered to do an Evolution running clinic or underwater swiming video analysis at a reduced rate if there is interest.

So let me know exactly what you are in for. I'm doing the bike fit and both VO2 max tests.

So far I have ejc999 (Ernie), glf33 (Gary), ChipmunkHeart (Elizabeth), myself, and two friends in DC that have expressed interest.  That should be enough to do the trick.

Happy holidays!

Joel

Fantastic!  Are you good with Jan 27/28?  Thos od us that want both LT tests would need to be there both days and thos only wanting one or the other could basically schedule either day.

Yup -- that weekend is great. I would prefer later in the day on the 27th afternoonish/post-workish would be best.

Hey~
I'm only interested in a bike fit at this point. Could do Jan. 28. Would that be $100, then?
Keep me posted.

I'll check with Ken and see if he can fit your in with us.  Not sure what the charge would be for a fit only.  I was originally scheduled for a fit @ 6pm on the 27th but decided to just do the VO2 tests...could you make it to fill my slot?
