Today I went out with some people for dinner at a place called Hana Japanese restaurant. I just have to hsare how absoultely FABULOUS the food was. I had two pieces of raw sushi---one salmon, one tuna--a spring roll, hot green tea, a bit of beef and chicken, shitake musrooms, something made of the remains of a skinned fish (ooooh yeah) which turned out to be really yummy, a few noodles, and some fried veggies. All in all, it was an awesome feast. I was so excited. The best part is, oriental cuisine such as what I had for dinner is not that high in fat, as far as I can tell. That's why japanese people (such as those in Okinawa) stay thin and healthy!

Anyway, thought I'd share the feast with the group..

I agree with you that Japanese cuisine is both tasty and good for you. I especially like the very sweet young Niponese waitresses in their traditional kimonos. It makes going out a special occasion.

Mmmmm, I take my bi-weekly omega-3 and fish protein run by our local sushi place here. :D

I *love* sushi, but you gotta watch out for the sodium levels of soy sauce. I'd recommend getting/asking/using the low sodium versions if you're going to chow some raw fish. Most places have it available but sometimes you have to ask if it's not on the table already.

Japanese food is my favorite, and my husband's 2nd favorite (he's Chinese, so of course, Chinese is his favorite, especially since we don't live where one can find traditional Chinese food...). I always feel so healthy and energized after eating it. I lived in Japan for 2 months one summer and I was in heaven...I actually OVERATE in Japan and gained some weight, but for as much as I was eating, it really wasn't that much. Japanese food rocks!

My favorites are sushi, of course, all types of noodles, udon, ramen, and soba, and donburi, which is rice that is topped with various toppings, sometimes tempura, sometimes fried pork chop, sometimes yummy marinated beef, depending on which kind you order. Really, though, I can eat just about any Japanese food!
