Subject: Don't know where to start
I am a 35yo 195 lbs fire/medic, I am married with two boys. I live in Florida and am recovering from a pulled groin and hip flexor injury from the Gate river run in Jacksonville. I only work out doing calastenics, no weights anymore, I don't need any size. Running, biking and swimming are good workouts so I want to start training now that I'm healed. I have realized to much running is not good for me due to my weight class. I have done the Tarpin springs Triathalon when I was 25. I know what to expect just don't know where to start. Swimming is my weakest area and have only worked up to 4 laps withoutstopping in the pool. If someone could point me in a good direction with a Triathalon series and a good routine that would be great, something withen the Central Florida area would be nice. I need a goal to push myself, this is why the interest in Triathalons, it's seem to be a well rounded sport and I think that makes a well rounded athlete.

Hi there and welcome! I don't know of any tri's in FL, but you could check www.active.com for races. As far as a training program, go to the home page of this site www.beginnertriathlete.com for training programs. Good luck!

yeah...maybe a sprint program to ease into tri'ing with your running and swimming distance.  running will improve and get easier once your fitness improves...if your not in a hurry, just focus on biking ans swimming first then ease into running whilel just mainintaining your bike and swim times.

welcome!
