My favourite musical.  Saw it twice.  Saw the movie too.  Read the book.  Have the CD with the original London casts.  Also the highlights.  Almost memorized the entire Act 1.

Ha ha.. So glad I am not alone. I saw the show 4 times, read the book, bought a couple of different cast recordings, highlight as well, memorized Act 1 and 2. I can still recite every single line because I have been listening to it since 1988.. I guess the songs are etched onto my brain.

Gay men of the world, rejoice!

Now if they'd only bring back Cats.

Heh.

It's been a long time since I saw it in the theatre. Never been much of a fan of that one. I thought the movie was pretty bad as well. I miss Les Miz.
And even though I'm not a gay man, Gay men rejoice! And those that just love theatre too.

  • ..I miss Les Miz.

  • Oh that's a great one too. Again, I memorized all the lines from Act 1 and Act 2. It's the first musical that I have ever seen in the theatre. So glad that I was able to see it again last summer in London. The guy, John Owen Jones, who played Valjean used to played Phantom. He was awesome.

It seems like there a lot of em who have done both Valjean and The Phantom. It's nice to know there are other musical theatre geeks around here! Geek is my way of saying "extremely cultured and intelligent people" of course.

Yes, because both Valjean and Phantom are challenging role, especially vocally. Don't expect people like Lance Bass to sing Phantom anytime soon.

    Theater geeks unite!

I'm amazed at the vocal ability these people have. And the control to do it day in and day out. I used to do that professionally and it aint easy. I actually have a friend who played Valjean on Broadway and after I found that out, my respect for him grew 100%.
