Run
Comments: I decided to do this race even though I haven't been able to run consistently for the last month. My last real run was about 1 month before when i did my 20 miler. I decided to see take it easy.... my splits were 6.2 mile at 56:2 (8:21 min/mile) 13.1 miles at 1:48:13 (8:15 min/mile) 18.2 miles ar 2:39:04 (8:33 min/mile) At this point I was cruising... and loved everyminute of it... at mile 19 i had a sharp pain in my left knee and it just was too painful. I stopped at the aid stations but they did not have any tylenol of any pain reliever.. I had only one tylenol, but I knew one would no be enough.. a fellow runner had some tylenol and gave me some, but at that time I realize that my dreams of 3:45 were out of the window thus I decided to walk and enjoy the rest of the run. I thought to myself.... today i have nothing to prove.... I am not prepared and I have finished an Ironman.... I will finish this and that is what it mattered.. I enjoyed the rest of the run.... walked and talked to some ladies that walked the whole marathon. They started at 4:15 in the morning..... That was amazing... the last segment of the marathon (7.6 miles) I did it in 1:28... which was an incredible pace of 10:40/mile... Love the race a whole lot.... I really like running.... What would you do differently?: train more and find the what is wrong with my knee.... Post race
Warm down: walked and ate.... What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training Last updated: 2006-01-16 12:00 AM

got up and showered and of course tried to go to the bathroom unsucessfully. Drank a cup of coffee (double expresso from Starbucks) and a cliff power bar... Drove to the site and just chilled inside the convention center prior to the starting gun. Walked to the starting line and just waited. I was placed in the front corral, but decided to stay behind....
none... by the time thee was time to run I would be warmed up.... the amount of runners present would not allow you to start running fast at the beginning, thus the inital jog was a good warmup...
