I started training for my first tri 3 weeks ago, and so far it is going great. I'm constantly impressed with myself for finishing all the workouts, and doing the next day's no matter how tired I am. My race is July 11th, in Vermont. It is just shy of an official Olympic distance, and there is a killer hill in the middle of the bike. Any advice is welcomed, since I am totally new to the sport of endurance training!

Welcome! You can get lots of advice from the "triathlon talk" forum - and if you don't find it there, then ask!

Good luck in your event!

The weather is still making up its mind on whether or not it is spring yet. Last week it went from 40 to 80 in 3 days, then it snowed yesterday. That makes it a little difficult to follow a schedule, so I stay flexible and ride and run on the sunny days, and save my swimming for rainy days. Hopefully it warms up enough to so some open water swims soon, as I don't have a wetsuit, nor the money to buy one...

The only way to train for a killer hill is train on a hill that is longer and steeper at least once a week. Learn to use your gears effectively in your uphill and once in awhile ride up in one or two gears higher than you usually ride hills with. And do not make the mistake of trying to use the same gears that the pros use UNLESS you are also a pro. These guys do this for a living and their quads are the size of my pot belly.

Thanks for the advice on the bike. To be honest, I don't even know of any tougher hills than this one, but luckily it is about 10 miles from my house, so I can incorporate it into my training pretty regularly. I'm still getting used to using a road bike, and my shifting is pretty awkward, but I feel more comfortable on each ride. I actually have just as hard a time on the steep downhills as I do on the way up! I'm not used to going that fast without a car around me.
