Hello All,

Have been lurking for some time hoping that it motivates me to get back on track. I have been doing tri's for about 3 years and took off last year due to life getting in the way (new house, job.....blah, blah blah)

Looking forward to racing again. Going to start out with a Du and then Memphis in May and after that not quite sure. Look foward to talking with everyone!!

Jim

Welcome to the group.

Not too many Tennesseans on this forum.  I am one and there are a couple more.  Post early and post often.

I will make sure to do that. Originally from NY but call Memphis my home now. The weather is much better for training!

I thought I was the only one trying to get back on track

Good luck. Stay focused.
Had posted something similar "

"Three weeks of juggling too many things and not much of anything to log. Yuk! Soccer and track overlapped. The best part about it was seeing my little one finish off his basketball season on a good note. So here we go again. Soccer has wound down other than playoffs as I pretty much enjoy watching the varsity play with the jv done. I can now concentrate on track and "other". Teaching is going well. However, having to continually keep kids motivated is just draining. Anyhow, hope to get back at it. Not sure how a May short sprint will be now??? Hmmm... Still doable? Stay tuned!"

Glad to have you back at it and also glad to have you here at BT.

I am originally from Tennessee and will be transferring back to Memphis in April.  I look forward to meeting you.  Check out the State listings on the forums page (you may have to expand the page) and you will see that quite a few of us are doing the Memphis in May OLY.  I also will try to host something at my house that weekend or set up a BT gathering at the race site during packet pick up.  Also you will see a few other Memphis area BTers, so send us a question if you have one!

Welcome back. I agree about the snow, put a huge dampener on training. Does shoveling snow count as working out?

Aloha Jim.

My wife and I moved to Hawaii from Memphis 3 years ago, in-laws live in Collierville.  We'd like to get back for the Memphis In May..... but with 2 kids, 2 dogs, etc, you know the rest of the story.  Maybe next year.  Best of luck this year!!  Mark

don't blame you for building out of shelby co.  we've got friends that built across the county line off hwy 64 before you get to oakland.   good luck with the lottery and if it gets you to Hawaii this year, let me know!! Mark

Hi y'all!

This is my first post here....Thought I'd start with this thread because I was born in Memphis and raised in Nashville, then lived four more years in Memphis before beginning a westward journey....One of our parting jestures before moving was to run the Memphis in May 10K! That was back in.....gosh, back in 1989!

I've been in Colorado for 10 years and am training for my first tri! Yippee!....So far, so good....

Anyway, I remember so many good times down on the riverfront in Memphis - the barbeque festival (Corky's is my fav!) and Memphis in May (what's the honorary country this year, btw?)....

Although Colorado is absolutely beautiful, Tennessee will always feel like home....So I hope y'all will keep this thread going about all the great things happening there!....I've gone home often to run races...including the country music marathon a few years ago....It was a blast....

I've been a runner forever....so triathoning is a new adventure - especially the swimming! Yikes!....My training partner and I managed to finish 500 meters non-stop this week....My fear of drowning is waning! LOL!

Glad to have a place to chat and glean helpful info....

Welcome to you, too, Rhonda.   Feel free to start your own thread.  It will get more attention that way.
