I've been struggling with allergies, which have now caused post nasal drip and the attendant barking cough. I can't tell if the cough is just allergies related or a harbinger of a respiratory infection. Currently, I'm taking generic claritin, which is making me thirsty as heck but hasn't sapped out all of my energy. I'm torn about whether I want to workout, workout not so hard, or wimp out. Note -- if I skip Pilates, this will be the 3rd week in a row. What do you think?

If it was me, I'd do the run ( but keep it very easy pace ) then do pilates. Don't stress yourself hard.

Thanks everyone for your kicks in the pants. I know it's not like Pilates n such is too difficult, but, darnit, my lungs hurt. Even so, I did 27 minutes on the bike machine (the treadmills were all full) and my hour long Pilates class. I am glad that I did it.

Fortunately, the cat is not the cause of my allergies. My main suspects are hickory trees and grass. Too bad ATL is full of both!

Not to sound like a TV ad but you should ask your doctor about Nasonex It has done wonders for me . It opens up the air ways and reduces the post nasel drip. Works great.

Thanks Eric. I took a generic Claritin yesterday and it seems to be working really well. My lungs are improving since the post nasal drip has decreased.

I had allergy shots for 7 years and have tried numerous cocktails of medicines. My allergies are pretty much gone now, but do occasionally flare up when pollen counts zoom. I think the OTC medicine (esp. since Claritin is now OTC) will be good enough to get me through the one to two weeks when I'm affected. If my allergies get worse, though, I'll probably go straight for shots. When I was on medicine (pills, inhalers and nasal spray at the same time), I was a mess.
