Hello,

I am from Michigan and plan to enter my first tri (off-road) in July. I am mostly a mountain bike rider/racer and am interested in the total body cross-training effect of run and swim workouts in addition to my bike sessions.

The swim is what concerns me the most since I haven't been training that at all.

Take care all,

WLQ

I am in the same boat concerning swimming, but I am finding that time in the pool is helping. A swim at a time is my current plan. =)

Welcome to the group!  There are lots of us who struggle with swimming (including me!).  You will find plenty of advice - go to the home page for articles or through the threads.  Consider hooking up with a coach or a master's swim group.  You'll get there.  Good luck in your events!

Welcome Walt. I so admire the off-road tri-ers. I'm pretty terrified off terra non-firma!

Keep us posted on your swim progress,

Dana

Welcome! I am from Michigan as well. Good luck in July, personally I will be doing my first in August. I am a little jealous you will be triathlete before me. I was dreading the swimming too, but just after a month in the pool and it is a lot easier.

Once again welcome and good luck!

Welcome - sounds like the advice for a lot of us is...  if swim is your challenge, then swim!  Imagine that.  So - I am doing swim as often as possible - about 4 days a week. Getting there - slowly, but this is a lifestyle journey - not a sprint or one time deal. For me it's about making good steady (if slow) progress over the next rest of my life
