I'm know Boulder's a great place to live but I only get to visit for a conference for a few days next week...

Anyone have suggestions on nice, easy outdoor runs that I can eat up the scenery while there? How about places that have bike rentals so I can try to get at least one ride in?

Run at Boulder Reservoir....lots of open space and tons of trails.  And not mountainous.

Bike rentals......huh, not sure, but if I find out I'll post again

Sounds like a great excuse for a group run!

I work in Lafayette, not far from Boulder so I might be able to get a run in after work if you're interested.  Granted, I'm not real familiar w/ Boulder, but I do know where the Boulder Rez is.

I work downtown Denver, but would drive up for a group run or ride. What size bike would you need? Maybe someone has an extra?

A group ride or run would be great if I could fit it in around the conference schedule! Also, you guys would have to go slow since I have to acclimate to the altitude, so keep that in mind.

As for bike sizing...it depends on the bike. How's this: I'm 5'5" (so anywhere around 51-53 usually...).

I have an old trek 52cm. Good old bike I rode for many a year (now on my trainer). If we all wanted to ride I could bring it. I'm not to familiar with the roads up there, but I am planning to do the 5430 Tri in June and would love to ride the roads up there.

Any ideas from the CO Bt'ers.

By the way it snowed last night, so I don't know how the weather is going to be. Let me know when you guys want to run or ride and we can set something up.

If you are going to ride, and if it's not too cold or the roads aren't snowy, the ride up to Jamestown or Ward is really nice. Start out and Boulder Rez, ride down Jay Road to 36, go north, then go left on Left Hand Canyon Road. Jamestown is 8 miles up, Ward is 5 miles up, then turn left (you'll see a sign), then 13 more miles up. It's a great hill climb. You can actually do a 50 mile loop from Ward along Peak to Peak Hwy down thru Raymond to Lyons, but it's probably a bit cold for that. Or you can just ride along 36 to Lyons and back if you don't want to do the mountain hills. Pack your windbreaker and arm warmers, it's chilly chilly on the way down!

We have a cabin in Raymond that we go to several times during the summer. There are many, many cyclists that go down our little road. Or, we see them hanging out at the Raymond store for a pit stop. I'd venture to say that Raymond is quite a bit chilly right now seeing that it's at 7750 feet.

I hope to be riding up there some this summer. This Texas girl is going to have to get her climbing legs and a bunch more lung capacity to hack it, but it'll be a lot of fun I'm sure.

Our weather has been pretty darn cold and snowy, so I am not sure that you'll be getting on a bike.....but, that said, if the weather changes, you are welcome to borrow my bike.  I have a size S Giant tri bike and a 52 Specialized road bike.  I think either would fit.

If you want to run with others, maybe post something in the Colorado forum when you arrive!  Hope the conference is a blast!  What kind of conference btw?

I'll keep everyone posted once I arrive, thanks!

This conference is for challenge course facilitators (I'm a trainer who trains the facilitators, so I thought it would be great!). I have an awesome job and get to go to cool places for conferences where we play games !
