Subject: RE: Elliptical I use an elliptical now and then to break up the sometimes run-bike menotony, used it exclusively in the very beginning to prepare for my first tri's. I feel that the less impact one does the better, especially over 40 or nursing an injury. The motion assimilates biking muscle action while you get a good quality stride as well. I have substitutes ellipticals for either a run or a bike and based the end workout result based on time, heart rate and calories from ellitptical against a similar workout on run or bike. For example if the workout is an hour and perhaps has an RPE of 3-4 then I figure it as an hour of 10 min miles on running or 6 mi, or a bike of perhaps 13-15 miles.
Hope this helps c2fd |
