Hey all -

*waves*

I'm Amy. I'm new to triathlon -- looking at doing a few sprints this season and hopefully one Olympic distance by the end. I just started running this last summer for the first time in my life -- never thought I'd be running *and* liking it! I ran in Race for the Cure in October, which was my first event, and then I ran with a running club in the fall. I can ride a bike, but have never really done it in any serious fashion (longest ride being about 40 miles on a flat, and that very leisurely). I do have a swim background - in fact, of all the events, that's the one I'm least worried about, which seems to be a divergence from the norm!

I'm an engineer in real life and still relatively new to Colorado and I'm just having a blast discovering everything there is to do outside here (climbed my first fourteener in January!). I've lost 50 pounds over the past year, so I'm also really enjoying my new fitness level too. I've got a little ways to go with the weight loss, but I'm really excited to have an athletically-oriented hobby with a concrete event at the end instead of months of endless ellipticals... you know what I mean! I'm a chronic goal-setter, so I need to have that specific, measurable, acheivable thing going on. ;o)

Looking forward to achieving great things with you!

There are a couple of us who like swimming more than the other events! Use BT - it's a great source of info on everything from running to how to eat cactus (check out the nutrition forum) . Log your workouts. It keeps me going knowing people are checking them for progress!

Nice to see another newbie in the Denver area.  Like Mark said, there's a pretty good group of folks around here to train with.  Have you picked out any races yet?

I've been eyeing the Danskin Sprint as my first race since I first thought about doing this in the fall. I think I'm probably going to do Tri for the Cure and the Rattlesnake Sprint as well, because they're spaced out about right. And then, I've joined a Tri club and they're aiming to go to the USAT Team Championships in Las Vegas in October. That's an Oly distance, and I think that that would be a nice end to my first season.

Sounds like some nice races.  I went and watched some other BTers do Rattlesnake last year and I was very envious that I wasn't racing.

I still haven't decided if I'm going or not but, a number of folks are getting together on Sunday for a group ride.  Here's the URL:
