Hi,

I am not and never will be your typical triathlete. I have been large all of my life. Not fat, just large (the fat part came after marriage and 2 kids). I am 6' 1" and weigh 250 lbs. Two years ago, I lost 30 lbs, got my bodyfat down to around 12% and rewarded myself with a tri. I was the slowest guy on the course, but I was hooked. Since then, I've done 2 more races and although still slow showed steady improvement. However, for the past year, life, work, and nagging injuries have kept me sidelined and I have gained back all of the weight that I lost two years ago.

About a month ago, I had finally had enough and started training again. I targeted several local races for later this summer, put a training schedule together and started training. I have truly enjoyed lurking around this sight for the past several weeks. It's an encouragement to me to see that other people have the same struggles that I do. I know that with a lot of hard work and determination that I can make it to the middle of the pack. I may never be fast, but I plan to have a great time along the way.

See you at the races,

Scott

Congratulations...There are a lot of really great people around here into triathlon. If you havent joined the tri club here...you should. All shapes, sizes, ages and abilities...and a good way to meet fellow triathletes and potential training partners.
