I'm Cara. I'm joining the Team in Training for Leukemia and Lymphoma Research, planning to do the Pacific Grove Tri in Monterrey in Sept. Has anyone else joined this training program? If so, how was it? Was it easy to meet the fundraising goal? I think it will be motivational to know that I'm helping someone else, while at the same time benefitting myself, from a health perspective.

I did a sprint tri 2 years ago, and think this will be a great challenge for me. To anyone who has done an olympic distance-- is the training a lot more intense than a sprint?

I'm psyched that I found this site, I think it will be really helpful!

Welcome!  I trained with TNT for a marathon.  I had no problem raising the money (and went over by $500).  I did a letter writing campaign.  And, I stayed with TNT to be a mentor later on!  I enjoyed the process.

Anyway, welcome to BT!  Good luck with your tri!

Hello from across the bay, Cara!

TNT has a great rep, and from everyone I've spoken to who have joined on with them: a worthwhile, helpful and rewarding experience.

The jump from sprint to Oly is significant, but not outrageous. I found that it didn't unbalance my life unduly. You'll be surprised how much of a jump off you've got with your sprint base!!

You probably have a great pack of people with whom you do training rides, but if you are ever looking for an East Bay riding companion, drop me a line!! I know ALL the hills! (o:

Congrats on setting such a great goal! My BF has raced Pacific Grove every year since 2000 and considers it to be his favorite race. Sadly, he wasn't able to register in time this year and didn't get a spot.

I went last year to spectate and it's great! All three portions are on laps, so as a spectator, it's easy to see the person you're cheering on. I imagine as a racer, it's good to be able to go by your family/friends/support group several times on each leg for added inspiration.

Like a lot of races these days, TnT has a great showing. I'm always impressed with the level of support they give their racers before, during and after the race!

Good luck!
