Subject: Alright, Zipps are out, need wheel alternatives fast! Well, the Zipp 808's are now officially off my possible purchase list ........ I only got half of what I expected for a side job that I had done for a friend of ours for doing some design work for the house they are building. Sigh.
So my budget has been halved as well.
I'm looking at the HED Stinger 60's or 90's as my alternative choice. Anyone have any experience with them?? Good, bad, indifferent?
As far as pricing goes, they are literally about half the Zipps, and very similar in weight for 700c tubulars. I like the company and seem to think they would probably be the best choice. I've only got about $900 to spend now, so they look good for the price. I guess if there was some other mainstream brand that retails for around $1200 or less for a pair that I could entertain them as well if anyone has recommendations (first hand experience appreciated please ). I still have to find out if my old shop can get the HED stuff. Gawd I'd hate to have to pay retail for wheels ....... |
