Subject: Honolulu Marathon - anyone done it?

I'm considering having a go at the Honolulu Marathon in December?

Anyone done it? How much does the large number of people effect the experience?

Yep, did it in 2003. Too hot, too hilly, too windy, too crowded. All they had to drink on the course was nasty Amino Vital, nothing with carbs in it.  Only thing going for it is that it's in Hawaii.

Bear said it pretty well.  I agree with everything he said.  I can deal with the heat & wind,  the Diamondhead trek up and back didn't bother me too much, except on the way up (mile 7?) where it was way too crowded to pass anyone.  very aggravating.  However, I would do it again, but that is mainly for the trip back to Hawaii.

We did it this last December. I'll never do it again.

The drink on course was foul. I'm glad I had pockets full of Gel and e-caps. I just took in water at the stations.

It is so crowded that we did not get into our marathon race pace/rythym till about mile 10.

There are tons of people walking it.

Upside, most likely the only Marathon I'll do that I come in the top 25% of.
