I need some size 52 cycling shoes.  I've poked around the web and haven't had much luck finding a pair that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.  If you have cycling shoes this big i would love to try to talk you out of them.  I'd really like to do my first 1/2 ironman in cycling shoes and not my running shoes! :-)

I've never had a pair of cycling shoes before but i tried on a 50 at a LBS and they were just a hair to short...  I wear a regular shoe size of 15 or 16 depending on the brand

One of the things I have found about Bike shoes is that they all fit differently (the same as any athletic shoe really) and the different numbering doesn't make it any easier.
You really want the cycling shoes to be tight and not have a lot of motion. I normally wear a size 14 shoe. In my road shoes I wear a size 48 I just got a new pair of tri shoes and they are a 46 and a tiny bit too loose.
The tri shoes I just got were a deal at 50 bucks here they are http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=20272&subcatego...
They run pretty big. Hope this helps but I don't think you will find a more cost effective shoe. Hopefully the 48 will work out for you.
I'm not sure on the return policy but I'm sure they would give you a refund or credit if they were too tight and you had to return them.

Haven't heard too much from this thread lately so it looks like i'll have to bite the bullet and order some from the store.

Did you have success with the Performance shoe? I like that price point much better than the $150+ shoes at my LBS. I tried on a few 44's and they were too small - I'm thinking a 44 in the Performance Tri Shoe should be a good match. These being my first shoes - I'm not ready to fork over any money more than necessary.
