Subject: Incorporating weights into training plan for first sprint...
Hi Everyone -

I'm training for my first sprint triathlon. I was going to use the 12 week plan that is from this site. While the plan incorporated weight training twice / week, it only seems to incorporate legs / back. I am a seasoned weight trainer and it's one of my favorite fitness components. I would have thought that a plan that includes shoulders, chest and abs in addition to legs and back would be preferable?

I would still like to incorporate some comprehensive weight training into my 12 week plan. Any suggestions or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated (I am a 33 year old female who currently does an hour of full body weight training three times / week).

Also, any additional 12 week sprint training plans that you might direct me to would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Barbara

I personally use the one on cruciblefitness.com during my pre-season. Just look up Anatomical Adaptation Phase (AA)

I also use a Muscular strength (MS) and Strength Maintenance (SM) program during the season.

Hope that helps.

i am a 33 yo female also, and I LOVED lifting before I got into tri training. I made a few significant changes (aside from reducing daily weights w/os) and that is: I added a whole lot more dynamic exercices- lunges instead of squats, bi curls into shoulder press etc. I added a lot of flexibility, core and plyometric activities. I just recently discovered Core Performance and have switched to that kind of a program, it makes more sense to me at thsi stage, and is the most time-efficient program I know of.

Core Performance
