Yester tech carbon monocoque frame I bought dirt cheap from Chuck's Bikes as a closeout.

Disc is a Renn that's a few years old, front wheel is Hed-3 demo with no stickers.

DA, Ultegra and Shimano 105 mix, Easton ec90 aero fork.

It's a bit chunky at about 22.5 pounds but rides like a dream and is very aero. Can't imagine why more people don't ride these frames except for maybe the weight.

Because you can't stand to pedal and are stuck in one position for the entire ride.

But it does look pretty neat!

Why would you be stuck in one position? Not that there's much reason to be changing position, but I don't see why someone couldn't stand, or use the bull horns like with any TT bike set-up with bull horns.

Just curious about your comment.

Becaue the frame has no structural support for torsional loads. It will flex too much and you will lose power and maybe even rub the rear wheel on the inside of the frame. Same basic principle as Natascha Badman's bike from Kona. They said the exact same thing when evaluating her position from the race. The bike is designed basically only in the vertical.

I know I certainly wouldn't want to stand up a hill on it! And why ride on the bullhorns? Defeats the whole purpose of buying an aero bike .......

actually this bike is very good at climbing. I'm a stander when I climb any hill at all.

I'd like to clear one thing up, this bike is not new to me. I've ridden it for the last 3 triathlon seasons, just thought I'd hop on the bike porn bandwagon that's all.

As YD posted, those bikes are pretty solid. Similar rear wheel support on softrides and they can handle it.

I agree with you as far as riding on the bullhorns, but that's the case with any TT bike set-up with bullhorns. It's still an option though if you want to change positions. Personally, I like riding aero and have logged many a 100+ mile ride that way. Still the bullhorns do provide an option when you want to open up the chest on a long climb (I'm talking 10+ miles of hard climbing), when cruising through a congested area, or just want a change.

Take care.

I presently have the black bp stealth with zipp 909's on them.  I must admit, I primarily bought it for the looks.  Haven't had an opportunity to take it out on the road yet.

this is essentially the same frame as the BP Stealth. I'm sure the BP Steath is more refined then this frame but it's obvious that they were made from the same mold.

Oh I think you can make do with a Griffen. That's the bike I'll get when my boat comes in.

everyone road those frame styles in the 90's, then everyone realized that 10 seconds of freakishly twitchy horror right before they ended their life is not the way they wanted to go out.

no seriously congrats on the bike. do a google search for 90's TT designs and you'll see a ton of similarities. we've gone back to much more conventional designs just for the sake of handling and comfort more than anything. cycling goes in, you guessed it, cycles and don't expect too long to go by before acts like cervelo and softride dig up the past and we're all riding incredibly twitchy bikes guaranteed to save us 0.0001 seconds

I thought we went back to more conventional designs because the ICU banned bikes that don't feature the diamond frame design. I know that't why Zipp stopped making frames.

The frame is the main reason why the bike's overall weight is so high. Even though it's carbon it's still about 5 pounds or so.

I figure it'll be cheaper for me to lose 3-5 pounds than to get a 16 pound bike.

5lbs eh?  Man, carbon frames are under 3lbs these days.  That thing must be super stiff with all that carbon.
