I am starting a grass-roots swim group. Please let me know if you are interested in getting together with others for outdoor group swims, and some socializing over "adult training beverages". Looking at morning & night times. Also, may look at some brick type workouts as well.

I've done a outdoor swim class over the last two years w/ a local coach that has been great. But cost is a bit of a factor, and last years class was a little large.

There is no committment, fees, etc. This will just be a chance to meet some new people, swim outdoors, and have some laughs.

All distances are welcome...

If interested, send me non-btmail contact info including preferred times/days/nights to my BTMail.

For the legal guys...Swim at your own Risk!

Thanks!

Thursday, the answer is Thursday!  Although two days ago it was Friday, and then Wednesday.....my weather forecast keeps changing.  I'm up for the swim thing.  I live on Lake Monona....perhaps we can swim and cook-out......(after the working out of course and adult training beverages will be involved most definitely.)

Possum,......spinning tomorrow am at the PC?

Hey, I would love to join the informal swim session!! I was a competitive swimmer for 12 years, but am lacking on open water knowledge. I'm signed up for IMWI right now, so I'm assuming I should probably become aquainted with lake life. I'm also great with adult beverages!

Swimming starts May 15th...
5:45pm at Lake Wingra to the left of the beach/snack shack.

Tenative schedule is:

Monday & Thursday nights at 5:45pm until June. After June 1, add wednesday am if people are interested.

I've got a lot of intrest from BT and my tri-group, HeadHunter Multisport. So looks like we might have a big group on Thursdays!!

Based on some recon, the Lake was a crisp 64 last night!!

This sounds great. I am doing a class with a coach but am such a bad swimmer that I can use all the water time I can get.

I might be interested - it would depend on the price and size. I'm about 5'7" & 140lbs.

Towards the middle of the summer, people usually go without wetsuits because some people overheat doing long distances. I will probably try some late summer swims sans wetsuit since I've been swimming more.

If you don't have a wetsuit, I'd HIGHLY recommend waiting till Mid June or braving it.

Also, I should be sending out an email to the group this week. If you don't receive anything, email me at [email protected].

later,

Mike

P.S. If you are looking for a wetsuit, email me your info and I can send a post out to my tri club. This is a good time of year when people are getting new ones.

Also, Fleet Feet on Old Sauk now rents them for 35 bucks for a weekend, and you can apply 25 of that to purchase if  you like it...

ME TOO!  they are great people, and have taken very good care of me. Do you know about their Aquathon series?  One Thursday a month, 1000 m swim, 5k run...

I get all my running gear there. They are really nice and helpful about the running stuff. It is nice to help out the smaller knowledgeable stores also (I can't stand Dicks!). I went to High School with Suzi at Simply Swimming and get a discount so I get my swim stuff there (just got a wetsuit). FYI, I go to Budget for most bike stuff because I get a Physicians Plus insurance discount (I think it is 15%). Every little bit helps!

I'm planning to do the Aquathons each month because it's right by my house, and sounds fun. I thought about working it into the swim group, and maybe having people meet afterwards...

Because of my tri club membership, I get deals at Budget/Machinery Row, Simply Swimming, and some other places...Every bit definitely helps in this sport
