Subject: Hello from MN I've been lurking a good long time so I figure it's about time to introduce myself.
Althletic background: Started marathoning 3+ yrs ago (completed 6 to date ).
Why I tri: I started working with a trainer last summer who incorporated biking into my plan. I liked the x-training aspect and it made marathon training easier. I've been the "pit crew" at a couple tri's for my bro-in-law (Lincsguyus ) and caught the bug a bit last summer.
Progress to date:
Swim: I started swimming in Oct after my fall mara - progressed from swimming a lap and being gassed, to comfortably swimming a mile last week. Having access to a 2xweek masters class has been integral to my progress so far - kudos to my swim coach Amy and my fellow fish-mates. I grew up on a lake so the OW swims don't scare me and I actually look forward to trying out a wetsuit swim.
Bike: I bought a bike/trainer in Nov and have progressed to a couple hours on the beast. I made the purchase from LBS and the fitting has worked pretty well to date. This facet has me a bit worried, as I've really spent no time on a bike in about 25 yrs.
Run: Felt guilty for putting in so few miles at first, but have settled into 2-3 day weeks and realize that I need to focus on my other two facets.
This year's plan: Do one tri a month (sprints and an Oly ) starting in May, culminating in a HIM in Sept as well as TCM in Oct.
There seems to be a nice group of folks here and I look forward to meeting any of the MN natives at events this summer.
