Overall Rank = 84/84
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 3/3
Pre-race routine:

Packed my bag Saturday night and got to bed early (earlier than usual considering daylights savings time.
Event warmup:

Nothing much. Met Haley (comet) and Aaron (jeepfleeb) before the race. It was great meeting other BT'ers. Plus, being new to the area, it was nice being with people who share this same insane passion of ours. Racked my bike, hung out with Hubby and mom and stretched a little.
Run
  • 32m 52s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

I know I am a lousy runner, but as slow as I am, I was faster than I have ever been so that is something.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster!
Transition 1
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

Not a bad transition.
What would you do differently?:

Grab a gel or Clif blocks for the bike.
Bike
  • 59m 12s
  • 16 miles
  • 16.22 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my first time dealing with the Texas winds. Making the turn onto the road, there was a great tailwind and I was averaging about 22 mph. Looking at the riders coming back on the other side of the street, I knew what was about to change. Once I made the turn, the headwinds were very strong and my average dropped to 12. Basically, there was about 8 miles of riding into the wind until another turn and I got the tailwind back. I was pretty much hating life for a while, but never stopped spinning.
What would you do differently?:

Hoist a sail behind my bike and harnes that power! Get more comfortable in Aero. I wanted to spend more time aero but was uncomfortable.
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

My hands got numb on the ride, and when I got into T2, I had no feeling in my right hand. That made taking off my shoes and helmet odd to say the least. The feeling came right back so I was ok on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not put so much pressure on my hands during the ride, or spend more time in aero to avoid the numbness problem.
Run
  • 37m 4s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Just suffered through it. It was great to see Haley and Aaron and mom and Steve cheering me on when I left for the run. That helped a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Just become a better runner. That is only going to come with lots more time on the road.
Post race
Warm down:

Even though I was last, I was still there for the awards ceremony. Aaron won 1st in his AG (YEAH!) Hung out for awhile and headed home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The fact that I totally suck on the run

Event comments:

It was go great to meet Haley and Aaron. I am so excited for Aaron racing in his first IM next wekend. I know he will do great. I am looking forward to seeing them again, and meeting other BT'ers at other races in Dallas.

Ok, I know to most people this time is pretty pathetic, but is was the fastest 5K I have ever done. At this point, I knew I would most likely by DFL, but all I kept concentrating on was one foot in front of the other and finishing the run to get on to the bike.
