Pre-race routine:

Disorganized. Brought extra clothing with idea of making choices depending on weather at the time.
Event warmup:

Arrived early but didn't warm up much
Swim
  • 16m 43s
  • 500 yards
  • 03m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Total panic. Forgot everything.
No warm up.didn't look down..poor balance
What would you do differently?:

More warm up stay cool
Transition 1
  • 08m 40s
Comments:

Surprised at time. Had gear in plastic bag to prevent wetness. Some trouble putting on tights and gloves. Thought I had moved much faster.
Dried off some after getting out of pool and put on sweat shirt to stay
warm
What would you do differently?:

Practice. Organize things better?
Bike
  • 52m 40s
  • 12 miles
  • 13.67 mile/hr
Comments:

Got clipped in and out easily. Road was well marked and volunteers were helpful. Thought I was doing well. Stayed balanced with no real problems. A little intimidated by speed especially on downhill
What would you do differently?:

Let the bike move quicker.
Transition 2
  • 05m 26s
Comments:

Again surprised at the time. Felt everything went smoothly. looked for GU without success.
What would you do differently?:

Practice. great opportunity to remove time
Run
  • 36m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs soft at the beginning but overall moved pretty well. Better than average time for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung around and chatted with others. Generally pleased I had completed the course without incident.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim was total panic.
Transitions were poor and need serious review
Held back on bike because of fear of losing control on wet roads and downhill.

Event comments:

First ever trialthon. Very pleased to have finished. Knew I would be slow. Panic in swim. Surpirsed transitions were so long. Lots of opportunity for improvement. Overall, I am pleased to be a triathlete and pleased to have finished under two hours.
