Hello all. Just found this site today, and it's GREAT! What motivation!

About a year and a half ago, my college roomate and her boyfriend ran a sprint triathalon. For the next year, all I heard was that I should try this, not to win, but just to say that I have done it. Well, something just clicked.

I graduated from college at the age of 25, started my career, moved half way across the country, and decided that now is the time in my life to accomplish something new. I have started building my base, and am running about 2 miles 3 times a week and it feels great! Just thinking about the "runners high" is enough to get me off of the couch and into the gym for a workout.

My goal is to run a sprint tri in the spring (April/May). Nothing fancy, just to finish. I would like to run in a 5K before, just to experience the race atmosphere prior to the big day.

I have never felt so dedicated to a fitness goal, that I felt was acheivable. Now I do! Can't wait to hear from some of you, and to share thoughts, tips, and encouragement.

Sounds great. Laura brings up a good point about knowing the course. I ran a 10K in May and did not know the course nor had I ever run 6 miles at one time. I came to mile 6 and since it is 6.2 I thought no problem. Well point 2 is a long way when the finish line is blind. We ended up running around the outside of the park which was long and curved. Never saw the finish until it was upon me. I about died thinking it was just ahead only to find I had farther to go.
I also was just looking to average a 10 minute mile.....less than an hour was my goal. I finished in 54 minutes without stopping and what a great feeling to cross the line. Good luck.
