I have no idea! What's a good one for a first timer. The Macon IM is nearby but people tell me it is hilly. July is a bit warm in GA as well. Now you got me thinking ahead Chuckster!

I'm headed up to IMCDA in June to register.  My training is so driven by having a future goal that I decided to do it earlier this year, and have been telling anyone who will listen that I'm going to do it so that I can't back out, and have to stay focused on base training this year.

Good to know that I'm not the only wacko already planning next years when this year's is still 150 days off-
IM USA LP, hotel Northwoods Inn

It will be the first time staying right in town stumbling distance from the start/finish. The place we stayed at the last 2 times I did it was right by the first aid station on the bike, mile 5ish I think. Part way up the climb out of town to the blistering fast downhill anyway. I'll set goals for next year after seeing how IM Moo goes this year.

If I'm lucky/good/a miracle occurs at IM Moo, IM LP, or the lottery, I also want to visit Mecca next year and I'm going to do everything short of traveling outside the US to race to achieve it. It would make a great 5th IM, don't you think?

IM Wisconsin for me.    My first half will be in the fall and my first full one year later!

Definitely IMAZ.  It will be my first.  I'll be welcoming in a new decade (my 30's) with this race.

I was thinking of doing IMMOO or LP, I'm not sure what my training buddies want to do , but Happycow is in favor of me repeating IMAZ. Hope it doesn't sellout before I get my act together.

IM MOO in '07.

I'm committed.  Once this season is over, I am devoting my training 110% to prepping for that race.

Probably won't do an M-Dot race next year - I don't want to commit to another one a year out, but maybe I'll do one of the non ironman races that don't fill up (like the Esprit in Montreal).

I'm hoping to be a spectator at IMLP this year. I'm just afraid I'll end up signing up for 07 if I do

You think you guys are weird planning this far ahead?  I'm planning on IMMOO in '08!

I want to get a century and a marathon under my belt in '07.  All part of my Couch-to-Kona plan which I will outline in my book and sell millions of copies of after I actually do it.   Appropriate fees paid to Ron, of course, for the name.  Don't worry, you'll all be in it!

I'm doing IM FL this fall and probably won't do an IM in 2007.  Instead I'll be foucsing on running and running the NYC marathon   Might do an IM in 2008 if it fits into my life and I'm motivated for another one.  I'd consider IM AZ for 2008 if I do another one.

I'm happy to know that I am not the only one who has started to think about this.

Right now, I'm debating between 2 races.  Either doing Chesapeake Man in '07 or IMAZ in '08.  Chessy would be good b/c it is local and I think there are a number of other members of my tri club that are going to do it in '07.  IMAZ would be nice simply b/c I am a bit of a brand whore, so I crave the atmosphere that goes along with a WTC race.

WTC could make it easy and just make IMAZ a fall race.  I'm looking for IMAZ b/c it is a flatter course which suits my style of biking.

IMOO= IM Wisconsin.

Which, by the way, you should all consider becasue a) it's one of the only beautiful times of year here (that southerners can handle, I mean, I love it 365) b)I will be the best jockstrap you can imagine and c) well, you just should. I live here. I could feed you all and throw you a huge party and scream your name all day...   I want to be your woman!

Free food and a cheering section?!  I dunno, I gotta think about this one....

Seriously, the RR's from IMAZ have got me re-thinking my decision to wait until '08 to do an IM.  It sounds like there's going to be even more BT'ers at IMAZ '07 and having such a big goal looming appeals to my bent nature of suffering a little.  Decisions, decisions...

For anyone still thinking about it, here's the Julie Moss video.  Think it over.

I am hoping to not have to wait until next year by possibly earning a slot to an IMNA race at Eagleman. I am waiting to see what happens there before I really make up my mind. IMAZ is a definite possibility although I fear it will fill before I race Eagleman. Other than that it's either IMWI of IMFL next year. But I can't wait that long!

Wait, you know what, screw it. I am going to register for IMAZ. I don't want to miss that opportunity. If I am so lucky enought to earn one at Eagleman then maybe I'll pass on it and just concentrate on AZ, or maybe I'll do both. I'm there. P.S. - What's the registration deal for AZ? Is it open? Filling fast? Anyone know?

IMAZ registration info posted on Monday April 17.

I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about it.  I was looking for registration info yesterday.  It will definitely be a long road (more mentally for me than anything- I'm sure it's like that for most), but I think this is something I really need to do.  IMOO 07?  I, perhaps, wouldn't mind doing a flatter bike course, but again, this course is in my backyard and I can train on it.  Besides my mind, money would be the next obsticle.  I would definitely have to quit second job.....hmmm........live off breadcrumbs but have FREE weekends?  I"M SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING THIS......SERIOUSLY GUYS....SERIOUSLY.  it's all worth the party at Possum's house, why am I even questioning this?

I'll tell you why you are questioning this: it is occurring to you now that you just might need to learn to use your gears and just might be forced to incest in an actual proper pair of bike shorts, which, without the 2nd job, might put you over the edge...
