Well, I guess I am now a true cyclist. I got into a turn before I saw some loose gravel and sand, and down I went! According to my garmin 301 my last reading was 22mph, the next reading was -1 (I found a new use for the garmin info). Knocked my shifter crooked, bent the rear der. hanger, and scraped up the bike pretty good. As far as my body goes, road rash on the right shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. Don't know if the hip will give me problems for the half mary I have planned for Sunday, and I am also thinking these bloody scars won't mix too well with the am swim.

I think I will proudly display my wounds tomorrow by wearing shorts and a long sleeve. Bike shop said the bike should be ready by tomorrow afternoon.

I guess I should add that I had 8 months, and almost 1,900 miles before the first crash.

At least you were riding. My falls have been of the unclipped the wrong foot when coming to the red light variety.

Glad you well enough to post the story. Wrecked my new bike at speed first time out with roadie shoes and pedals. Scrapping up a new ride sucks. Used to wreck my Pinto good at least once a year. The crowd would ooh and ahh then applaud when you jumped back in and went after it again.

Jump right back on, after all its not the fear of speed that gets you, its the -1 you recorded on your garmin that hurt.

Good luck to you.

Yep, twice. Of course it wasn't MY fault so I sold the piece of crap it and got a better one. I guess my skewer didn't fit right or I didn't tighten it enough but I fell on my hardwoods pretty hard. Bruises on my arm, elbow, hip and legs from the floor and the bike on top of me. Good stuff.
