Subject: Hello from Denver!
Hey Everyone!

Back in January I started training for my first triathlon, an Xterra off-road tri (1K swim, 31K mtb ride, 10K run) on July 18 in Keystone, CO. I recently looked at the calendar and started to panic that I only had about seven weeks left before the race.

I come mainly from a running and mountain biking background and the fear of drowning is still learking in the back of my mind. So that's when I started looking at different websites and found this one full of great advice and information! I really want to get the feel for a triathlon before the one in July. I found an off-road tri on June 19, which has both a sprint and olympic distance race. I can't decide which distance (if any) to sign up for.

Any and all advice for this BT is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome!  Good luck in the Xterra!  I assume you are using a wetsuit?  Are they required?

If you think you might be ready for the olympic distance in June, then go for it!  It will certainly give you a feel for what to expect in July.  If you just want to finish one to get the experience, then do the sprint - and consider it a training day!

Good luck!

Wetsuits are required. The estimated water temperature is around 52 degrees...BRRR!!!! I just bought a Quintana Roo Ultrafull. I don't know a thing about wetsuits, but found this one for a good price. I am hoping to try it out this weekend.
