Subject: Triathlon clothing changes - help!
Just wondering - can someone spell out the clothing changes for me? You swim in a wetsuit - then what, your bike shorts are under your wetsuit? Aren't they uncomfortable being soaking wet? Then do you run in those, or is there yet another layer waiting to be peeled off?

In the words of my good friend Thingfish, kindly "relucidate this baffling concept with another thrilling number!"

Thank you.

You swim/bike/run in a tri suit, or tri top/shorts.  If you wear a wetsuit, the wetsuit goes overs your tri outfit.  The tri shorts and suits have less padding than bike shorts, so they dry quicker and are more comfortable.  There's no changing involved, unless you're doing an Iron distance race.

Not meaning to Hi-Jack....

But Janelle - what changes are involved in the IM distance? and what is the "goodie" (forget the correct name) bag that you pack and when do you get it?

There's a communal chagning tent that you can use to change from your swim to bike clothes in T1, and from your bike to run clothes in T2 in an IM.  You don't have to change and it's purely an option.  Some people do, some don't.  I think you get your special needs bag along the bike and run courses.  Usually 1/2 way I think?  I'll be doing my first IM this fall so I don't know specifics.

For shorter distance races, some people wear jammers instead of bike or tri shorts. Tri shorts have a chamois like bike shorts, but it's much smaller and dries out quickly. You don't even notice that it's there.

And to answer the next question: You wear nothing under your tri-shorts!

Correct nothing under the try shorts other then some body glide.  Too much clothing can cause irritation
