Subject: Best Indoor bike Trainer for under $150.

I'm on a budget and am looking for a dependable indoor bike trainer for under 150. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of one that would fit this criteria?

Thanks!

Seriously.  For the most part these things outlast the dedication of the people who buy them.

My $70 sette mag trainer from pricepoint.com has been fine for me, and ride mine at least 6 days a week.

While it wasn't craigslist, I managed to get a KK Fluid trainer that was as good as new for $160.  Keep your eyes open and you can find a deal.  I think it's worth it to try to find a fluid one.

That's the right price point for a gently used Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. Look around, I find them locally all the time for other people at that price. I've even been lucky enough to find a pro model or two at that price, but that's a rarity...

My Nashbar five-level mag is closing in on a decade of use, and has been nothing but reliable, quiet, and sturdy. And I ride on it a lot, year round.

I bought a used cyclops magneto trainer from eBay for about $90 and have been happy so far. I was in the same boat you are trying to stay within budget. Definitely check out eBay and craigslist for good deals. Good Luck!

If there is any wiggle room in your budget I found this on ebay.  Solid trainer at a fantastic price.

I got an  ASCENT Fluid trainer for $99.  Bikenashbar has them for $129.

All of my rides are on the trainer. Solid, and quiet with no problems. Plus Bikenashbar has 100% satisfaction which adds a little peace of mind.

Thanks for all the input. I won a camera through work and now have it listed on amazon. so the money that I get for that will go towards the trainer and if it sells it will be around 150. So I don't have much wiggle room. I will check out some of the trainers you have mentioned. Like I said I appreciate all of your suggestions!

Thanks!

I was reading the reviews on nashbar.com for this trainer. What exactly were some of the people talking about with the feeling of an "egg shape." Do you have any experience with this?

I have no idea what that feeling is, and I've been riding one of those house brand tariners for years.

To be honest Im not quite sure. I thought maybe they were refering to a pedal storke that was easy/hard/easy/hard... and so on.

In any case I have not had any issues like that.  Once the fluid warms up its smooth sailing.
