I know I've heard several people wanting/planning to go to the Hotter 'n' Hell in Wichita Falls. This year will hopefully be my 4th year to do it and it's an absolute blast. Plus, this year is the 25th anniversary so it's going to be HUGE. Anyways, if you haven't made hotel reservations yet, chances are you won't get one or you'll have to stay somewhere outside of Wichita Falls. I usually just pile in one of the rooms that our club members reserve, but I thought it might be cool to get a BT camp together. They have camping in a few places and REI even sets up camping areas right outside the convention center. Might be kind of fun to get several of us together and camp. Just a thought, I know lots of people aren't into camping. I have two tents, a 4-man (2 man) and an 8 man (4-5 man).

Great idea.  I'm in for sure.  I only have a 2 person tent, though.

No, but I can certainly look into it if you would like. How many campsites do you think we should try to reserve?

Ladies and gentlemen, a hand for my straight man......of course, if she really was a straight man, she wouldn't want any guys pitching a tent for her.

Thank you, thank you. Don't forget to tip your waitresses.

I'll be there ~ I think I have hotel room ~ one of the guys I ride with has a standard reservation of a few rooms each year. Although camping would definately be fun. I'd love to meet up with some BT'ers.

The last couple of years there has been rain right before the race and temperatures have been rather mild. Make sure you are prepared for rain if you are camping.

For those of you who have never been to Hotter "n" Hell - it's a fun ride - crazy and hairy for the first 20 or 30 miles but then good after that. Many slower riders leave early or start from some place other than the starting line - there is a lot of inexperienced riders in the beginning - can make for a dangerous ride at first - my group had a crash last year that lead one guy to the hospital at mile 9......At about mile 97 there is a machine shop that gives out free beer and food if you stop....they keep an ongoing list of everyone that stops...

Just for fun......! It seems to be a family owned type of business - they have 9,000 people pass every year for Hotter "n" Hell - they sit out there watch the people - barbeque - drink beer and like to have people stop and chat......I've stopped once - they are kind of what you might refer to as "rednecks" but they are harmless and nice. It's all in the spirit of fun. They just write your name down - I think they just do it to keep themselves busy and talk about how many people they convinced to stop at mile 97.....personally at mile 97 all I can think about is the END...

I'm planning on it!! Shoot I'll even eat with them too!

So that one day, when you're 80 years old, you can take your grandkids to the shop and prove to them you did the HH100.

I'm in.  I'll be camping this weekend for the MS 150, so I'll get to experience riding long after a good night's sleep in a tent!

Okay guys, I have made reservations for two campsites at Lake Arrowhead State Park up in Wichita Falls for Friday Aug. 25th and Saturday Aug. 26th. These are campsites with water and electricity. Maximum capacity is 8 per campsite so if it looks like we will have more than 16 people, we need to know shortly because places fill up fast for HHH, especially this year. The cost is $20 a night per campsite, which we can divide up based on how many people show up and then it is a $2 daily entrance fee into the park per person. So, all in all, pretty dang cheap! Hotels at HHH, even at the cheap hotels run around $100 minimum. Check-in/check-out is at 2:00 pm. We can go over the details as we get closer.

Anyways, is this cool with those wanting to camp? Changes? Opinions?

Okay, HHH is now less than 3 weeks away...just thought I would get a check of who is still in and see if anyone else would like to join us, we still have room for others.

Okay, well without getting a single response back (I know Aaron and Haley aren't going), I'm going to let the reservation go. If someone still wants it, let me know and I'll see what I need to do to get it switched over. Oh, turns out it is one site, not two (8 people allowed on the site). I managed to get a hotel room from a bike club member so that's what I'm going to do.
