Subject: Just when I was about to retire from Triathlon
5 years ago I decided to do an Ironman for my 45th birthday. I started out with Sprints and worked up to the IMAZ last month. This year, my motivation has been lacking. I trained but mostly just going through the motions without intense desire. Just waiting for the year to end. In fact, I sold my Tri bike in the spring and decided to do the Boulder 70.3 and IMAZ on my roady.

I finished IMAZ with a time that was better than I hoped. That night and the next day, I said, I am done. Im tired. No more Triathlon.

The following week, I bought a new Tri bike and have signed up for 2 more races early in 2012 and I'm trying to decide which other for the rest of the year. I'm itching to start training again.

Triathlon is an addiction!!!

Had a similar experience after my first IM.  I swore it off but how quickly the itch returned.  Congrats on getting back on the wagon.

It wasn't my first triathlon but when I finished my first HIM feeling all beat up , feeling sick on the way home , all I could think about is the 2012 race schedule and which race I could do to better my time......so agreed!
