And what do you typically eat for breakfast? meatcookie - 2011-12-17 1:46 PM Hope I can post this here for greater views that the nutritional section...I'm doing some research, it'd be awesome if you can take 30 seconds to answer three quick questions.. Thanks!
How do you feel about fast food in general? (the stereotypical stuff like McDonalds, Burger King, etc) I like it. It is fine in moderation. Some choices are healthier than others. The healthy choices don't ever sell well. I usually get a Hardee's Thickburger because I think the meat is high quality and tastes good. (Disclaimer. Wife's family runs a large number of Hardee's restaurants) How often do you eat fast food? (daily, weekly, monthly, never?)
Every month or so. And what do you typically have for breakfast? Oatmeal with cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins (or other berries or fruit), and walnuts; OJ; coffee. Cooked at home almost every day. On the road, a bacon and egg biscuit, OJ and coffee at Hardees. I don't eat this very often. |

Master 1862 San Mateo, CA | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1. I don't care for the usual chain restaurants. Tastes awful, and quality is questionable. 2. Rarely: Don't recall the last time I ate McDonalds or Burger King....maybe in high school? I've never eaten at Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, In & Out Burger, Wendy's, etc. Although I will patronize a local sit down burger joint named Jeffrey's about 1-2 times per year, and I might order either a burger, turkey burger, or vegi burger with garlic fries. Jeffrey's tastes a lot better than the regular chain restaurants. Other than Jeff's, I usually prepare my own burgers at home. 3. Old fashioned Quaker Oatmeal, and I sprinkle some cinnamon on top and drip some honey on it, coffee, and about 3 egg whites, normally. Edited by betyoursilver 2011-12-17 7:30 PM |

Expert 663 A little slice of paradise | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? Fast food is junk food. I cannot justify eating unhealthy like that, or spending the money when there are so many healthier options. Fast food is just not on my radar. The only time I eat fast food is when I am sick and then I crave McDonalds French Fries with lots of ketchup, which is a mystery to me also. My Breakfast every day is 1/2 cup oatmeal with 2 egg whites and cinnamon, a banana and sometimes 1 cup greek yogurt (if I am really hungry). |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? I think 90% of "fast food" is some of the worst stuff I can put in my body. It sure does taste good at 3 a.m. after a night of drinking though, I won't lie Not sure if you consider Chipotle "fast food" but it's the only place of that type I visit - probably once every 2-3 weeks. Breakfast is either gluten free oats (made with just water) or a gluten free bagel/english muffin with natural peanut butter. And black coffee. |

Expert 697 Northern CA | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1) Fast food is mediocre in taste (at best) but sometimes it's convenient. I consider a lot of things to be "fast food" that other people wouldn't though. This includes stuff like Panda Express and Starbucks. 2) I eat it when I'm with people who want it, but I never seek it out voluntarily 3) Since my family is totally into that crap, this works out about once a week, unfortunately. It would be more often but sometimes we go through the drive-thru and I don't order anything because nothing looks remotely appealing. |

Extreme Veteran 1136 | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1. It's bad for you. But I also think almost anything you buy already prepared and ready to heat/eat is bad for you. Let's face it, restaurants will not sell low fat low sodium food because to 99.9% of people it doesn't taste good. Even the "healthier" choices aren't great- look at Moe's/Qdoba/Chipotle: 1 burrito with the typical fillings, guac, and sour cream tips the scales at nearly 2,000 calories. 2. I eat Subway 3-4 times a week. I think the quality is somewhat questionable but at least it's not a burger and fries. I eat Chick Fil A probably 2x month, and random other fast food joints a few more times a month. 3. Typical breakfast = Most days Nature Valley fruit and nut granola bar, banana, and coffee. Some days cereal with a banana sliced up on top. |

Veteran 312 Columbus, OH | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? I'll go against the self-selection bias here. I am your daily fast food eater and have been this way for at least the past 10 years (ever since I started driving). 1. I view it as the same food I would be eating basically if I cooked at home. I like hamburgers, french fries, pizza, fried chicken, etc. I don't eat french fries almost daily because they are fast food. I would eat them regardless if I fixed them at home or picked them up from McDonalds. I just love french fries. 2. Once a day as my main meal. My other meals consist of whatever snacks I'm currently eating at the time: nachos, bagels, cereal, pasta, cheese sticks, peanuts, popcorn. I am also a big coke drinker averaging around 3 cokes a day. With this diet, I gained 40 lbs between 18-24 and then lost that 40 lbs in the past 2 years. The only time I don't eat fast food as my main meal is the 5-6 times a year I go home and my mom cooks. These are the times I probably overeat. 3. I have a weird sleep schedule since I'm a grad student right now so my breakfast isn't typical, but within an hour or so of waking up I will normally eat something (usually cereal, bagels, or nachos) to be ready for my afternoon workouts. |

Pro 6520 Bellingham, WA | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? How do you feel about fast food in general? The older I get the more I prefer local non-chain fast food that seem to use higher quality, less processed ingredients. I used to love McRibs but after reading what is in them and how they are created I'm a bit turned off. Same for McD's bacon. I do not understand how they can call something it really is not. How often do you eat fast food? I eat quite a bit of fast food. Probably one meal a day. And what do you typically have for breakfast? Two frosted strawberry pop-tarts and coffee. I am an addict and have been for many years. |

Extreme Veteran 605 Centennial, CO | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1. I dont think there is much worth eating in fast food 2. I rarely eat it...maybe a couple times/month and I hate it when I do 3. I have either plain oatmeal w/craisins or two eggs with two pieces of toast...and coffee |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? I avoid fast food. Once in a while I do need to get breakfast after swimming cup to the city for my allergy shots before going to work (which is back home as I work from home). I will stop at Starbucks and get my coffee with a spinach & feta cheese wrap has egg whites. Think the calorie thing in the store has it at 280 cal which is probably because the feta cheese is not low fat. The other breakfast sandwich they have is on a whole wheat english muffin with low fat cheese & turkey bacon that is just over 300 cal. |

Champion 9430 No excuses! | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1) Fast food is junk but it is also very convenient. 2) Depends on if I am on or off the "wagon" When eating good, never. When I am putting in 18-20 hour days at a break-neck frantic pace, every meal of the day. 3) When eating good, protein shake or toast, when not...well donuts, candy bars, drive thru food or whatever is fast
I will say, if this survey so far represented even 5% of the population we would be a ton healthier. |

Master 1799 Houston | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1) It is convenient, tastes good (or can), but is a bit heavy or greasy. 2) 1 - 3 times a week. 3) Either a Peanutbutter sandwich (toasted with margin and way too much peanutbutter) and a prepackaged breakfast bar of some kind OR several prepackaged bars including a package of peanutbutter crackers. |

San Tan Valley, Arizona | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1. Not a huge fan of fast food traditional fast food (McD's, or BK etc.) It feels like a brick in my stomach. 2. I will eat chipotle once a month or so. I like the veggie burrito no cheese or sour cream. (Mostly vegan option save for the tortilla) 3. Steel cut oatmeal and smoothie consisting of berries, peanut butter, spinach, and more oats with black coffee or tea depending on my mood. Edited by jeomphroy 2011-12-17 9:59 PM |

Veteran 267 Coopersburg, PA | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? 1. Fast food is really terrible stuff. Way high in empty calories, sodium, preservatives, etc. 2. Maybe 1-2 times per year. 3. If I have the time, 4-5 egg whites cooked into a "patty" with 2 pieces of whole wheat toast (one slice has PB on it and the other Nutella!) If I dont have the time is a bowl of ceral, but then im hungry about an hour later. Always have a big glass of OJ. |

Veteran 277 The Nation's Frosty Capital | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? Sadly, I am not a morning person and eat a lot of fast food for breakfast...usually the Tim's ham and egg on a biscuit...but I know it is crap. I have never come across a healthy breakfast at a fast food joint...but I have an open mind and palate. I really want to see yogurt as a meal....not there yet. |

For example: I enjoyed almost a quart of ice cream tonight and some Fig Newtons... but I also did a 50 mile road ride and a 10k Trail run today too. If I didn't do all this tri (and many other activities), I'd be a big fat fattie. But I do... so I'm not

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: Do you eat fast food? And what do you typically eat for breakfast? NEVER eat fast food. Breakfast = greek yogurt with almonds or walnuts mixed in, banana or cup of other fruit when banana bores me, and coffee. It's not hard to eat good. In fact, it's the easiest of all we do. |
