From what I hear...no.

The SRAM Red FD is actually flawed...because it was made too light and flexible, it doesn't shift as well.  For that reason, many people (including pros) actually downgrade their FD from Red to Force/Rival for more reliable shifting.

I'm not positive on this, but SRAM may have released an updated version of the Red FD...but I don't think it's on the public market...I think it was more for their sponsored pros so that they can say they are riding full SRAM Red.

Again...that's just what I have heard.  Save your $50.

x2!

Keep your $50 and spend it on something fun instead. A much better investment since Rival FD is actually better than Red.

The term "better" is relative in this discussion.  For instance, if reducing weight is your primary objective, then Red is better.

Well.. yes, the Red FD will be lighter, but honestly, you want it to shift crisp too, right?

This is the second thread, recently, about a cheap 'upgrade' to Red FD.  Interesting.  Something tells me this upgrade is going to get cheaper and cheaper!

To OP:  I have the Force and have zero complaints.  Shifts fine.  It weighs 17g more than Red.  That's half a packet of Gu.  Even if weight reduction is your priority, I'm pretty sure that $50 would buy you more reduction elsewhere.  (I can't believe I'm about to say this:  carbon bottle cage... <winces> )

X2.....I've got full Red with the Force front derailleur and have no complaints either.
