Subject: Swim Tempo Trainer

So the thread about the 90 minute swim is great.  The best thread I have read on swimming, at least for me.  I was interested in the Tempo trainer that adventure bear brought up.  However I did not want to get the other thread off topic.

So what is it and how does it work?

It is a little device that you attach to your goggle strap while in the pool. You can adjust the timing of audible sound to match the cycle rate your trying to achieve or hold. Think of if as a metronome. They work fine, it another tool in your bag to help in trying to establish tempo, increase your turnover. Finis is the product name brand

Great device for learning pacing on the longer sets.  You can set it to beep each arm stroke (or other) or to beep each length.  Either way, after a few hundred meters, I found it amazing how I would start to fade either in turn-over or in maintaining pace.

It taught me that the first 1/3 of my set should feel incredibly slow because by the last 1/3, I will be incredibly slow!
