I did wind up buying Asics Nimbus 13 almost a month ago. I am happy so far. I replaced the insert with a Spenco arch support liner. So far, so good. I've been building up over the last month and icing my knees as I go - again, so far, so good. I did 5 miles this morning of a walk/run (ran about 3 of it) and feel good, if a bit stiff. But, that may also be from the bike ride this afternoon. As to running gait, I have been practicing both mid-foot and fore-foot styles. The middle of my foot is sore the day after running with a fore-front strike. When I get tired the are both harder to do and I tend to revert back to heel striking.

I used the New balance 850 the last two times and they updated that to I think the 940 now? anyways I just switched last saturday to brooks adrenaline gts 12 I have only put about 10 miles on them but really like them so far much lighter than the new balance.

The new balance were amazing when I was heavier I started @ 325 and am now at 220 ish

I liked the Brooks Beast, they are geared toward bigger people. I found them very comfortable and supportive
