I don't want to preach, but here are my thoughts:

Today is D-Day, June 6th. My father and many like him served in WWII. I just want to thank them for what they did 60 years ago. I would not have what I enjoy today without them. I look around and see how good my life is and then think back to that time of world uncertainty and danger.

Having said that, I should also like to remember our troops today, and thank them for all their sacrifices.

Evelyn

here here Evelyn.  I second your thoughts.  We are losing our WWII vets at an alarming rate these days.  Anytime I meet a WWII vet I always ask about their stories.  If they are willing to talk we must listen.  They have history to share that must never be lost.

How is your Dad doing?  I hope everything went well.

Yes, let us never forget all the members of the allied forces who sacrificed their lives on that day and during the whole conflict, so that we might enjoy our democratic freedom today. Let us also remember those who served and fought and who returned to our shores to rebuild our states and raise families in an atmosphere of peace and prosperity. And, to my dear departure father, who went overseas a naive young man (he lied about his age to join) and came back a seasoned veteran....thank you.
