Just saw that Mirinda Carfrae is racing NOLA.  Very cool, will have to look to see what male pro's will be there.

Hope everyone has their hotels booked. It was crazy trying to find a place that wasn't too far from the host hotel. I'm dreading the traffic with the airshow.

Looking forward to it though- this will be my first tri of the season and I'm ready to get going!

trying a little bit different training style this year (more long and slow and less speedwork) and my long bricks are looking real good. just need to keep enough fluid in my on the bike and all things should go really well. Hope to have some new toys by race day.

I was wondering the same thing, the race is coming up and there is not much activity in this group. I am really excited about this race, the first of 3 70.3 races this year. Only 4 weeks to go!

I, too, am quite excited about this race! I really hope to PR the course. Last year my training was sub-optimal and this year I have been training with reasonable quality and consistency! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Finish Line!

Putting together my packing list today at work.  The hay is mostly in the barn, a couple big bricks to go. The endurance is all there. The bike is all fixed up just need to add some new wheels to it this weekend.

I am just about ready to race

Yeah, this thread has been fairly quiet and hope that changes.  Run training has gone much better than previous years and swim is okay.  Bike is where I am worried. I am getting lots of short rides (20-40 miles) but few above that.  I have a sprint tri this weekend as a warm-up but after that will be a couple of long rides.   Not much of a taper for this guy.

I am staying at the Best Western Avalon, is sorta a drive from the expo and race site, but it was affordable, my best friend is coming with me to sherpa and we are taking my car so we'll be able to get around. The nearby hotels are too rich for my blood

I am excited, but I am doing IMCDA and IMAZ this year.  So i'm not going to be "tapered" for this race.  I still hope to PR as it's been a while since i've done a 1/2.

Being out so late may help me on the bike as I will not feel the need to race other bikers who pass me. Please don't. Chick me to early in the run.

This is the 2nd time I have had a wave near the pro's.  Kinda cool being able to see the pro's go off.  Hoping to catch a sight of Miranda C.  Maybe I can bring a pen and she can sign my tri shirt Smile.

At racine last year I was at mile 5 of the bike when I saw the first pro come back with only 5 miles to go. At Oceanside last year the pros where done and sitting in transition when I was leaving t2. they did have a 1.5 hour head start

Excited but apprehensive... I am very undertrained for this race, real life just has not been cooperating with my training. Doubt I will even get close to my PR. Oh well, the race was an "add on" to a planned family weekend in NOLA, and not the other way around so I'll hope for a finish, a medal and  just enjoy the town after. For my first race back after 2 years off I'm not gonna sweat it to much!

From last years thread I grabbed these two links for following water temps for NOLA as I am sure it will come up:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=nwcl1

http://weather.lumcon.edu/stationdata.asp?stationid=103

The interesting thing is that Lumcon is reporting water temp of 55 degrees and NOAA is reporting 77 degrees.  Either I am reading one of them wrong or that is a big swing in temp.
