Subject: American Triple T

Has anyone done this race (Saturday AM)? I was thinking about doing it for my goal race (my first Oly). I do like trail running although I don't get to do it tons (no time to drive somewhere to run). The course sounds challenging but not brutal. It does seem pricey, but that might just be me coming from a running background and refusing to pay more than $85 for a race. It looks like it fills up fairly quickly so if I'm going to set my sights on this I may need to pull the trigger on signing up soon. What are your thoughts?

MTA: I think this may be a non issue. I had thought that you could choose which of the events you wanted to race, but it looks like it's an all or nothing. Certainly not going to be up for that.

I haven't done the race, was signed up for the NC one last year before it was cancelled, but have you thought about doing the entire weekend. I hear it is epic! If I lived closer, I'd do it!

Good luck to you!

I thought about it briefly. It says on the website that the general consensus is it's a bit harder than a normal ironman. Tentatively I'm going to focus on the olympic distance so I think I'll pass on the whole weekend.

I've done TTT twice and some of the races singly. Its a tough course, the run if you just do one race is not awful but that bike course/run combo together can beat you down bad if you mess up the passing/are not geared for the hills. It's a fun race with great support, and has a very grassroots feel to it. If you are after fanfare, skip it, if you want a fun/different course and a great time, 100% go for it

I'm doing the whole TTT this year and understand that the full series is brutal. With that said, the ply individually can't be all that bad. Sign up for it and consider it experience if nothing else. You won't PR but you will have experienced a piece of triathlon lore!

I think you can sign up for the half on Sunday as in individual race.  The only other option is buying the full series.  Nothing is keeping the OP from signing up for the entire weekend, and just running the Sat Oly, other than it's an expensive Oly.

Really? The morning oly can't be all that bad?  Okeedokie.
