Thanks for all of your help, guys! I definitely want to get this figured out now so that when I start my HIM training this spring I am good to go with a good running base. Looks like I need to let up a bit, maybe get some compression sleeves, boil my legs with epsom salt, and take a look at my form and spend some time working on that. Y'all are great!

Sounds like it's time for a foam roller.  Check out this site about the benefits of a foam roller;

Also, I'm a fan of You Tube and there you'll find video tutorials on anything and everything.  Type in Foam Rollers; IT Band and or tight calves.  Usually there is a connection there.
